Normally, I blog about trade issues but I must say I was shocked to read in the news that France's President Sarkozy is attempting to obtain a partial ban on any veils that cover the face-including the burqa that is worn by some Muslim women.  According to Sarkozy its to protect Muslim women in his country.  According to CNN's report it is an issue of woman's freedom and dignity not a religious one.  I am not familiar with the laws and rights of French citizens but my person feel about this are that is an very antiquated sentiment and move on France's lawmakers.
